Discover Lighting

I bought a converted Methodist Chapel in Oundle in 1987 and couldn't find appropriate lighting anywhere ! Happened to have a weekend away in Norfolk and discovered the Stiffkey Lamp Shop that the then Prince of Wales often called in when at Sandringham.  That sowed the seed of interest ! At that time I was a Cereal Seed Salesman covering most of Eastern England. I started initially buying Oil Lamps then moved on to Early Quality Electroliers.

I opened a Showroom opposite the Haycock in Wansford in 1989/90. I found when restoring the Electroliers the only replacement Candle Tubes were plastic rather than original Cardboard which suited the period lights. I eventually found a company in Horley that did still make them but sadly got a letter from them saying they were closing down, the same day I contacted them and bought the Card Candle Tube side of their business and moved the equipment to Wansford. I also bought their customer list so along with making tubes for my own lighting but selling to other lighting companies.  in 1991 was approached by a Parisian based company  Girard Sudron to supply the whole of Europe with them sending all their manufacturing equipment to me as most of their Tube Makers had retired ! I was making the tubes still in the Coach house  but it had now become to small as from 200 tubes per week now orders for 2000 a week to ship to France ! Since that time we moved 3 times in the Peterborough area.

I still sell Candle Tubes today but no longer to France. Over the past 30 + years I have done restoration work in many fine historic buildings all over the UK. 5 years ago a Shooting Friend Marcus Berridge Happened to mention he had fancied having a pair of Antler Chandeliers in his  'Shoot Room'  I offered my services and made the first 2 Sika  Deer Antler Chandeliers.  Since then have been selling to many varied locations in the UK along with one now in Greece and two in a Ski Shalet in the French Alps.
